Tamil Film Production: The Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) has said that all Tamil film productions will stop on November 1. The council is calling for cost restructuring to help producers deal with their rising costs of production.

This decision comes at the same time. Murali Ramasamy is in charge of TFPC, which has been talking with the South Indian Actors Association and 24 other groups to find ways to cut costs. According to ETV Bharat, “As the production cost has increased and producers are facing additional financial burden, only the shooting of films that are already started production should be carried out in order to facilitate the restructuring by holding talks with all the associations related to the film industry. We had said that no new films should be started from November 1st.”

The discussions with a number of the 24 unions that make up FEFSI and the South Indian Actors’ Association have gone well. The last stage of negotiations has been reached with a few other unions.

According to News 18, Executives from the Tamil Film Producers Association, Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association, Tamil Nadu Theatre Multiple Association, Tamil Nadu Film Distributors Association, and TFPC were present at the meeting. The following resolutions were approved at the joint meeting:

  • Only eight weeks after their theatrical release should movies with top actors be made available on over-the-top platforms.
  • Actors and technicians now receive advance payments from production companies and go on to work on other movies, causing producers to suffer significant financial losses. It was agreed that any technician and actor who got a producer’s advance should finish the movie before going on to the others.

  • The movies are currently being made and should be done by October 30. The companies making the movies should let the Tamil Film Producers Council know about them.
  • The film industry is trying to get back on track and reorganize itself because actors’ and technicians’ salaries and other costs keep going up. Because of this, the council suggested that from November 1, all activities related to Tamil films should stop.
  • A joint action committee made up of distributors, producers, and theater owners will be set up to deal with the problems in the film industry.
