Special Shakti Corridor to Link Odisha’s Sacred Temples, Says Deputy CM Parida

Bhubaneswar, Odisha – In a significant push to boost tourism and enhance connectivity among Odisha’s revered Shakti Peeths, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced on Tuesday that the state government will soon develop a dedicated corridor linking several sacred temples dedicated to the goddess Shakti. Speaking at the Maa Tara Tarini temple in Ganjam, Parida detailed the plan as a visionary project aimed at preserving cultural heritage while providing a seamless travel route for pilgrims and tourists alike.

The proposed Shakti Corridor is set to connect some of the most prominent temples in the state, including Maa Biraja Temple, Maa Mangala Temple, Maa Bhagabati Temple, Maa Ugratara Temple, Maa Narayani Temple, Maa Tara Tarini Temple, Maa Kalijai Temple, and Maa Bhairavi Temple. This integrated route is expected to not only facilitate easier access to these sites but also significantly enhance the overall visitor experience by showcasing Odisha’s rich spiritual and cultural legacy.

According to Parida, the project will be a collaborative effort between the Works and Tourism departments. “We have long recognized the immense cultural value of our Shakti Peeths. By linking these temples through a dedicated corridor, we aim to create an experience that is both spiritually enriching and economically beneficial,” she said. While the official announcement regarding the corridor’s implementation is expected soon, the project has already garnered support from key officials and local stakeholders.

In a related development designed to further improve the visitor experience at religious sites, the state Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan unveiled plans for a new queue management system called ‘Dhadi Darshan’ at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri. The system is expected to be implemented by the end of April and aims to regulate the flow of devotees, thereby reducing crowding and ensuring that the darshan experience remains orderly and stress-free for worshippers.

Both initiatives reflect the state government’s commitment to cultural preservation and tourism development. The Shakti Corridor is anticipated to drive increased tourist footfall along the pilgrimage route, contributing to local economies while encouraging a deeper appreciation of Odisha’s ancient traditions. Similarly, ‘Dhadi Darshan’ at Puri comes at a time when visitor management is critical, as temples continue to be focal points for both spiritual and cultural activities.

As Odisha looks forward to unveiling these transformative projects, state leaders hope that these measures will set a benchmark for other regions to follow, blending heritage conservation with modern infrastructure. The dual focus on connectivity and visitor experience underscores Odisha’s broader vision for sustainable tourism and cultural integration, promising to make the state a top destination for both domestic and international travelers.
