Jharkhand Voter List Update: Jharkhand is in the middle of a Special Intensive Revision, or SIR, of its voter list. Under this process, 14,02,262 voters were still left unmapped, and their names will not go into the draft roll that is set to come out on August 5. Earlier, the state had 70,62,319 unmapped voters at the start of the revision work on May 23, 2026. During the door-to-door enumeration phase from June 30 to July 29, the number came down a lot. Reports said 47,42,505 voters were first in the unmapped group, and this later fell to 5.3%, or 14,02,262 voters.
The Chief Electoral Officer, K. Ravi Kumar, has said that the Election Commission is treating the older SIR voter list as a better and stronger record for checking names. In simple words, if a voter’s name matches the old list and there is no clear mismatch, that person will stay in the final roll after the draft is published. The CEO has also said that all voters who submit enumeration forms will be included in the draft electoral roll, which means the revision is not meant to remove genuine voters.

What Unmapped voters means?
The word “unmapped” is used for voters whose details could not be linked properly during the revision work. These names are the ones that may not appear in the draft roll on August 5. But the story does not end there. Voters who are left out can still come back into the list after checking at the ERO level. In Jharkhand, the claims and objections period is planned to begin after the draft is out, and eligible people can use Form 6 with a declaration to ask for their names to be added again.
K. Ravi Kumar also told people that the mapping from the previous SIR is a superior document. That means the old record will carry a lot of weight during checking. If a person’s link with the earlier SIR voter list is found to be correct, and no logical mismatch is seen, the name can stay in the roll. This is why officials are asking voters to check their details carefully once the draft comes out.

What happens after August 5?
The draft voter list is scheduled for August 5. After that, people whose names are missing will get a chance to apply again. The state election office has said that eligible Indian citizens, new voters, and people whose names were missed for some reason can all try to get into the final roll by filing the proper form and declaration. Officials have also said that the process is meant to make the voter list cleaner and more accurate, not to block genuine voters.
