After repeated insistence by RJD and Congress MLAs for CBI probe into Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case, finally, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has ordered a CBI probe into the matter. Earlier, Nitish Kumar and Sushil Modi had shown their reluctance over any Central Bureau of Investigation in the mass gang rape case. The Chief Minister had said that the state Police is looking into the matter and he does not feel any need for CBI’s intervention into the matter.

Kumar has written a letter to the state’s Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary and the Director General of the police showing his willingness in handing over the investigation of the case to the CBI. According to Bihar DGP KS Dwivedi, the medical reports have proved that out 42, 29 girls had sexual contacts. So far eleven employees of the Muzaffarpur shelter home have been arrested.

Ever since the police raided the shelter home in Muzaffarpur and rescued 44 young girls on Monday, RJD leader and the leader of opposition in Bihar had been asking the Chief Minister to hand over the case to the CBI. RJD members also protested against the rape case outside Vidhan Sabha. Tejashwi had alleged that the Bihar police is trying to wipe off the pieces of evidence and that the state government is taking the matter too easily even when Home Minister Rajnath Singh had agreed for a CBI probe into the matter.

Mahila Ayog team on Wednesday had visited the shelter home and had revealed few shocking facts related to the shelter home building. According to them, there were several passages to get out of the building. It seemed that the building was constructed keeping all this in view. There was a small theatre in the building where girls were given sedatives. They were given sleeping pills every night to sleep. There were arrangements to abort if any girl conceives by chance.
