After Amaal Malik, Guddu Dhanao, the director of Aflatoon, lashed out at Luka Chuppi Poster Lagwa Do song. Remixes are not anything to be proud of. But sadly, today’s trend seems rather dry on originals.

The other day, Amaal Mallik was miffed. The singer-composer slammed the current trend of remakes (which we also think have become a bit too much). Amaal wrote on Twitter, “With this new remake releasing I only feel like laughing at the mediocrity of sound that is being put out… Ab Remake Kar Hi Rahe Ho Toh Achhe Se Toh Karlo… Original se 5 guna zyada ghatiya aur dated sound kaise bana lete ho #BollywoodMusicHitsRockBottom.”  Now, we can safely assume that he was mocking the Luka Chuppi’s Poster Lagwa Do which dropped on online just a few minutes prior to his tweet. The track is the recreated version of Akshay Kumar and Urmila Matondkar’s eponymous number from Aflatoon (1997). The song is crooned by Mika Singh and Sunanda Sharma.

It would be only natural to know what the Aflatoon producer Guddu Dhanao thinks about his film’s song being used in LukaChuppi. Okay, so what did Guddu tell us? Well, he sounded very low and said that he was very said, to begin with. “5 guna zyada ghatiya? I won’t say 5 guna or 6 guna, but definitely original is original. Lalit Sen’s voice in that was so nice (Mika, are you listening?). The original was so good. Go to Insta, 99 per cent people on that platform are saying the Aflatoon number was better.”

Added Guddu, “I am very sad that one of the best songs of my career has been rehashed. T-Series- the label who has the rights- must have given permission.” Guddu recalls that he had strong differences with Anand Bakshi who didn’t want the words to be exactly as they are. “But I had my inputs and I insisted,” he says.

Has he hated the new version in Luka Chuppi? “Yes,” Guddu concluded, rather emphatically.
