Agra: Taj Mahal temporarily shut as UP Police receives bomb threat call

Following the phone call on UP Police's emergency number 112, security agencies went on a tizzy and at once started search operations inside the Taj Mahal.

Agra: The iconic Mughal-era monument, Taj Mahal which attracts crores of tourists every year, was on Thursday shut temporarily after an unidentified person called Uttar Pradesh Police and said that some explosive device has been planted inside the monument premises which would blow up soon.

Following the phone call on UP Police’s emergency number 112, security agencies went on a tizzy and at once started search operations inside the Taj Mahal.

The police were informed by an unknown person that explosives have been placed inside the Taj Mahal. UP Police took immediate action and traced the phone call. The person is now under Police custody. which has now been taken into custody. During interrogation, the youth told that the man was upset about not getting a job.

According to sources, a search operation is being conducted in the entire premises of Taj Mahal, the bomb squad is also present at the site. There has been a stir in the area since this incident.

A Satish Ganesh, IG, Agra while speaking to ABP News, said that the information about the bomb inside the Taj Mahal is false and police have nabbed the person.
