Alia Bhatt is celebrating her 26th birthday today and we have pics that say that the Highway actress is a family girl at heart!
Born on March 15, 1993, in Mumbai to Indian film director Mahesh Bhatt and actress Soni Razdan, Alia Bhatt was born and raised in Mumbai and went to Jamnabai Narsee School, Juhu.
Alia Bhatt is very close to her grandparents Trudy Razdan (Gertrude Hoelzer) and Narendra Nath Razdan. Her grandparents hail from Germany. Her maternal grandfather used to run an underground newspaper against Hitler. “When the authorities found about it, he was imprisoned for two years and my maternal grandmother and mother (Soni Razdan) then crossed the border to Czechoslovakia before heading to England,” Alia Bhatt had told mid-day.
“In 1948, my Kashmiri grandfather, who was studying architecture in London, came to Berlin as a member of world-famous dancer Ram Gopal’s troupe. A 19-year-old, he played the violin for the latter and while in Berlin, he performed at the Schiller Theatre. Back then, Berlin had been reduced to just rubble. So yes, I share this incredible connection with Berlin,” Alia added.
Well, very few are unaware of the fact that Alia Bhatt’s father is an acclaimed filmmaker. Mahesh Bhatt is known for films such as Saaransh, Daddy, Swayam, Aashiqui, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, Sadak, Sir, Criminal, Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, Zakhm, Murder, Jism, among others.
And now being a father to a talented actress like Alia Bhatt must make Mahesh Bhatt a very proud parent. Here he is taking a selfie of himself with hoarding of daughter Alia behind him. Alia had shared in an interview, saying, “People assume I would have spent a lot of time on my father’s sets. But that’s not true. I have only vague memories of the sets. I used to get very bored because it would take so long to change from one shot to another.”
Alia Bhatt’s mother Soni Razdan has given the audience some memorable movies including Mandi, Saaransh, Sadak, Monsoon Wedding, Page 3, and Shootout at Wadala. The mother-daughter duo shared screen space for the first time in the 2018 hit – Raazi, which also marked Razdan’s return to the silver screen.
A star and fashionista since a young age, Soni Razdan revealed, “Alia was a very obedient child, the only thing she was fussy about was what dress she wore. I would have to give her choices and she would pick her dress out knowing very well exactly what she wanted to wear.”
Alia Bhatt has an elder sister. Shaheen Bhatt is very close to Alia and the duo often party, take vacations together. In 2016, Alia and Shaheen moved out of their family home into their new pad.
Alia Bhatt is best known for her roles in films like Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Highway, Udta Punjab, Dear Zindagi. Highway won her the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress and Udta Punjab won her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.
Alia Bhatt’s kitty is currently full with films like Brahmastra opposite Ranbir, multi-starrer Kalank.
