Sanjay Leela Bhansali films and controversies in not new. Earlier, ‘Bajiro Masatani’, and ‘Padmavat’ had faced severe scrutiny by some group of people.
Now, Maharashtra Congress MLA Amin Patel has demanded to change the title of Alia Bhatt’s upcoming film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. He claimed that it maligns the name of Kathiawad city.
Gangubai Kathiawadi and Kamathipura in trouble:
Apart from Gangubai, the web series, Kamathipura too is under scrutiny and facing objections on several levels.
“Hotstar is going to telecast, Kamathipura, which is a very bad serial and the additional police commissioner had put a stay on the telecast. I request you to not let it telecast,” the MLA said n the Maharashtra Vidhanshaba session on Monday.
The film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ features Alia Bhatt in the titular role of Gangubai, a loved, feared, respected, and powerful brothel queen of Kamathipura.
The movie is helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and has been adapted from a chapter in Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai. Besides Bhatt, it also features Emraan Hashmi and Ajay Devgn in important cameos roles.
Gangubai Kathiawadi teaser:
The teaser and the poster, which was unveiled a week ago, were widely appreciated by Bhatt’s fans and the film fraternity. The film is slated to release on July 30.
