In an unfortunate incident, at least 10 people were killed and 30 others were injured after a bus fell into a canal in a village of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday morning. The Hyderabad-bound private bus fell in between two flyovers near Mullupadu village in Krishna district.

Notably, there were 38 passengers in the Diwakar Travels agency bus. The vehicle was coming from Bhubaneswar following a halt at Visakhapatnam when the incident took place.

The death toll may rise as the front part of the bus was distorted badly and a lot of passengers were still trapped inside.

Soon after the incident, the injured were taken to the various hospitals at Nandigama and Vijayawada. Many people suffered severe head injuries and fractures as the bus jumped the railing and fell into the river.

Deputy Chief Minister (Home) N China Rajappa ordered a rescue operation. Reportedly, most of the passengers are from Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar, Srikakulam and Hyderabad.

This is the second such incident involving Diwakar Travels agency that is possessed by Telugu Desam Party MP from Anantapur J C Diwakar Reddy. In October 2013, a bus coming from Bengaluru to Hyderabad caught fire. The incident killed 45 passengers at Kothakota in Mahbubnagar district.
