Veterans who have ankylosis affecting the entire spine are eligible to receive the full 100% dollar amount in compensation. However, if the condition only affects the thoracolumbar region, their eligibility is limited to 50%. They may assert a 40% claim if the injury solely affects the cervical vertebrae.
How does VA define ankylosis?
Injuries that limit cervical spine forward flexion to 15 degrees or less receive 30% reimbursement. They can claim 20% if the influence is limited to 30–60 degrees of thoracolumbar spine forward flexion and 10% if 60–85 degrees.
Veteran getting 100% pension will receive $3737.85 per month in 2024, while those receiving 10% would receive $171.23.
