In a shocking incident, a man along with his relatives allegedly assaulted his wife for giving birth to third girl child. The woman later died in the hospital. The accused are on a run.
This is the second such case in Agra zone in less than three months’ time.
Identified as Preeti (26), mother of three daughters, was allegedly assaulted with lathi on Sunday night by her accused husband Harish Chandra along with her in-laws and later she was succumbed with injuries in the district hospital of Etah on Monday night.
An FIR in this matter was lodged on Tuesday evening by Kotwali Nagar police station of Etah.
Speaking to TOI, Sudhir Kumar Singh, station officer of Kotwali Nagar, said- “On the basis of written complaint filed by victim’s father Raj Bahadur, we have booked four men under IPC section 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 325 (Punishment for voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 304 (Punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder).”
“According to Raj Bahadur, Preeti gave birth to their third girl child last week, which infuriated her husband. On Sunday night, accused Harish who was drunk heavily, took out a wooden stick from backyard and assaulted Preeti until she went unconscious.
They later took Preeti to the hospital and left her alone, fearing of arrest on the assault charges. on the Monday evening, the victim expired in hospital. We are now searching for the accused men,” said SO.
According to the police, the victim suffered severe injuries on her head and hands.
The other men who are held responsible for Preeti’s death by her father are Hairsh’s uncle Ramvir, cousin brothers Bhola and Brijesh.
In the month of July, a similar kind of incident was reported in Agra, when a woman filed a complaint against her husband who assaulted her for giving birth to three daughters. The matter was reported in Bilnaujpura village of Tajganj area.
