One of the India-West Indies Tests will be day-night affair: BCCI

The Supreme Court on Friday imposed a limit on the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) financial transactions which is set to cripple the cash rich Indian cricket board.

In what is yet another huge setback for the BCCI, the Supreme Court has asked the Lodha Committee to appoint an independent auditor, who will scrutinize and keep a watch on all the financial transactions made by the board.

The apex court has also imposed a ceiling on the tender and contracts the BCCI can enter into.

The Supreme Court has asked the BCCI President and Secretary to file a compliance affidavit within two week’s time and also make an appearance in person before the Lodha Panel and explain how the board will implement all reforms.

The Supreme Court of India had on Tuesday dismissed BCCI’s review petition on its July 18th judgment validating the reforms suggested by the Lodha commission.

The SC in its judgment had asked the BCCI to implement the reforms suggested by the Lodha Committee, which had asked for sweeping changes in the way the board was running cricket at the centre as well as state levels.

The country’s top court had given BCCI between four and six months to implement the recommendations and appointed former chief justice of India RM Lodha to oversee the transition.

This came a day after the SC had reserved its order on the BCCI top brass after the board asked for more time to persuade state associations to comply with the apex court’s judgement on Lodha Commission’s recommendations.
