April Fools’ Day 2019: Top 5 brands pranks for their users this year

So it’s finally April Fools’ Day and the Josh for playing the best pranks have begun. While some of them are ready with their pranks for their friends and colleagues, others have already executed them. This day has various theories and stories attached to it.

Over the years, the brands have joined the prank team and the social media presence of each of them has also helped them to engage with a larger audience, be it launching of new product or promoting of a product.

So, on the April Fools’ Day this year, top-notch brands like Ola, Kingfisher and more have taken to social media to fool their followers. While some of them guessed the prank others have fallen for their age-old technique.

Here’s how top 5 brands tried to prank users on April Fools’ Day

  • Ola restroom

The cab provider company has tweeted that they are soon staring with washrooms under the name Ola restrooms. It will be cabs converted into washrooms for those on the go. The fact that is known to few that Ola comes up with an April Fools’ Day prank every year and the video they posted this time was very convincing for the followers. They tweeted the video saying, “Introducing Ola Restrooms. A place to go, for a generation that’s on the go. #OlaRestrooms #NoPressure.”

  • Mc Donald’s glowing burger

Mc Donald’s India has tweeted introducing glow in the dark burger that is quite evident being an April Fools’ Day prank. The image showed a dark green colored burger with dark oink patties glowing in the dark. They posted the image saying “Hey night owls, eating in the dark won’t be a problem anymore! #ComingSoon #Maybe.”

 

  • Kingfisher’s instant beer

Kingfisher also joined the prank league by tweeting that they have launched instant beer powder. Co-owner of the company Vijay Mallya tweeted “Introducing Kingfisher Radler! Refreshing, Non-alcoholic drink.

Their YouTube channel also explained by saying “As the leading Beer brand of the country, Kingfisher feels that it is our responsibility to ensure that your beer drinking experience is hassle-free. Presenting the all-new Kingfisher Instant Beer. Just add to chilled water, stir and enjoy the good times anytime, anywhere.”

 

  • OnePlus’ electric car

China smartphone markers OnePlus tweeted a picture of an electric car saying ‘Coming Soon’. OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei revealed photo the picture with a teaser image and blog post.  The teaser comes with a hidden message which reads ‘Yes, we do cars now’.

  • Google’s snake game

Google has temporarily added a version of the classic game Snakes into its Google Maps app for April Fools’ Day 2019. The company says it is rolling out the new feature for its iOS and Android users globally today. They have also launched a site for those who want to play the game, in case you don’t have the app. Those with no applications can reach out at the homepage where it is written Google Maps has changed the game.
