Ahead of Chhattisgarh assembly elections 2018, Mayawati and Ajit Jogi will jointly start poll campaign drive from Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh on October 13 and it is expected that BSP Supremo will address 5-6 rallies in her two-day visit to the poll-bound state. There is no update on the Madhya Pradesh election campaign drive from BSP yet, BSP had already announced its 22 candidates for the upcoming election. Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah have already started campaigning in Madhya Pradesh.

As per sources, Mayawati is only targeting Chhattisgarh, since the party is still puzzled with alliance formation in Madhya Pradesh with Congress, also Satnamis (a massive group of Dalits) in Chhattisgarh has shown its affection to BSP in recent times and Mayawati will try to fully capitalize Satanamis vote.

Bahujan Samaj Party National General Secretary Ramachal Rajbhar said that:

“We have already announced candidates for 22 seats, the candidates for the remaining 168 (MP) seats will be announced in the first week of October. The BSP has geared up its cadre to contest the assembly election on its own strength in the state.”

BSP currently has 4 sitting MLAs in Madhya Pradesh assembly and looking to strengthen its base. Dalits hold 15.4% of the total population of Madhya Pradesh which is considered to be BSP’s strength in the state. It is to be seen whether Mayawati will stitch an alliance with Congress in Madhya Pradesh or not.
