Asus Zenbook 14 OLED Review: Asus, which is renowned for releasing a variety of devices, such as smartphones and laptops, each year, has introduced the Zenbook, yet another product from its renowned product lines.

Since its inception in 2011, Zenbook laptops have been consistently thin and light, reflecting the “Zen philosophy” proposed by Asus chairman Jonney Shih.

In 2023, the Zenbook 14 OLED maintains this legacy by incorporating numerous features into its 1.4-pound chassis. In this in-depth review, we will delve into the specifics and provide a thorough evaluation of this laptop.

Asus Zenbook 14 OLED Review: Design, Construction Quality, and Exhibit

The Asus Zenbook 14 OLED features a sleek and conventionally “Asusish” design that is both refined and alluring. The matte finish and angular pattern on the device’s back create an aesthetically pleasing appearance, particularly when light reflects off of them.

However, the back is susceptible to accumulating fingerprint smudges and dirt, necessitating routine cleaning.

The Zenbook 14 OLED is a notebook, measuring 16.9 mm in thickness and weighing 1.39 kg. Nonetheless, it appears to be of high quality and has a sturdy feel.

The port selection includes the fundamentals. There are one USB-A port, two USB-C ports (all USB 3.2), an HDMI 2.1 connector, a headphone jack, and a microSD card slot. The fact that both USB-C connectors are located on the same side of the laptop is unfortunate.

It would have been more convenient if the laptop could have been plugged in from either side.

The keyboard and touchpad on the Zenbook 14 OLED are of the highest quality.

Each key offers a gratifying click and responsiveness, and the layout is spacious and ergonomic. As with its predecessor, a sustained press in the upper-right corner of the trackpad activates a virtual number pad integrated into the trackpad.

The Zenbook 14 OLED lacks an infrared camera for facial recognition with Windows 11 Hello, but has a biometric scanner integrated into the power button.

Although it functions as intended, it feels unnecessary and less practical than a tangible number pad.

The Zenbook 14 OLED’s 1080p camera resolution makes it optimal for video calls. If you make frequent video calls, the Zenbook 14 OLED is the superior option to consider.

Display is where the Zenbook 14OLED genuinely shines. It features a stunning 14-inch 2.8K OLED touchscreen with a 16:10 aspect ratio.

The device has a refresh rate of 90Hz, allowing for smoother movement and increased fluidity.

Despite the fact that the difference may not be as noticeable as it is on smartphones, the display is still remarkable despite lacking a higher refresh rate. The OLED technology produces vibrant colours, profound blacks, and exceptional detail, making it ideal for consuming immersive content.

The advertised maximum luminosity of 550 nits may not be sufficient for outdoor use during sunny days.

Functionality and thermals

Intel Core i7-1360P Processor 2.2 GHz (18MB Cache, up to 5.0 GHz, 12 cores, 16 Threads) and 16GB LPDDR5 onboard RAM propel the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED. Well, the specifications are not the most impressive, especially in this price range.

Intel Iris Xe renders the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED unsuitable for high-end gaming. Regarding storage, the laptop features a 512GB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 Performance SSD.

The device is capable of performing a variety of common duties with ease. Such as web browsing, word processing, email management, and video streaming.

The thermal management of the Zenbook 14 OLED is superb, as it remains cool even under heavy load.

Despite having binaural speakers located at the bottom of the device, the audio quality of the Zenbook 14 OLED is impressive.

While it cannot supplant dedicated audio equipment. The speakers are more than capable of enhancing the viewing experience of films and television programmes.

Asus Zenbook 14 OLED Review: Battery

Regarding battery life, the Zenbook 14 OLED is equipped with a 75Wh battery.

During my use, the battery lasted approximately 8 hours with WhatsApp, Google Chrome, and Spotify mostly open.

In terms of system configuration, I had the keyboard backlight turned off and the display luminance set to approximately 70 per cent.

Conclusion

Consider the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED if you’re in the market for a high-quality laptop that excels at a variety of duties and features an outstanding display, impressive hardware, excellent sound, and dependable battery life.

The Asus Zenbook 14 OLED is available in-store and online for a starting price of Rs. 89,990.
