Muharram Bank Holiday 2026
Muharram also called Ashoora or Yaom-e-Shahadath is one of the more important Islamic observances in India. As per the RBI holiday list, banks in a bunch of states will stay closed on June 26, 2026, to observe the day.
Still, because bank holidays are usually state based, people should check what their local branch actually follows, before turning up there. Also note that the RBI holiday calendar can shift a bit depending on regional observances and admin call offs in that area.
Will Online Banking Services Work During Holidays?
Yes. Even when the banks are closed for holidays, customers can still use :
- UPI services
- Internet banking
- Mobile banking apps
- ATM withdrawals
- Credit and debit card payments
In other words, only the physical bank branch offices will be shut in the regions affected.
RBI Holiday Calendar 2026
The RBI publishes a yearly holiday calendar covering all the scheduled banks functioning across India. This list generally includes national holidays, festival days that are state-specific, religious observances, along with the compulsory weekend closures.
Since the holidays won’t be identical across states and union territories, customers are better off confirming the city wise bank holiday list before planning any urgent banking task in June 2026.
