Barh Assembly Constituency 2025: Full Candidate List, Poll Date, Past Results and Winning Margins

Barh Assembly Constituency 2025:Barh is an assembly constituency in the Patna district of Bihar. It is a general (non-reserved) seat. The constituency includes the CD blocks of Athmalgola, Belchi & Barh; plus several gram panchayats (Dhiwar, Parsawan, Goasa Shekhpura & Bihari Bigha) of the Pandarak CD Block.

Voters and Local Issues

The constituency lies along the southern bank of the Ganga, giving it both strategic importance and specific vulnerabilities (e.g., flood risk). Voter turnout historically has been quite consistent. Local issues that often dominate the politics of Barh include flooding, irrigation failures, infrastructure development (roads, connectivity), and the uneven provision of basic urban amenities in Barh town and nearby areas. Caste and community alignments are also important; EBCs, Kurmis, some upper-caste Hindus, and youth are influential blocs.

Barh Assembly Constituency 2025: Recent Political History

Over recent elections Barh has transitioned from being more of a Congress stronghold to being dominated by BJP and JD(U) with the incumbent Gyanendra Kumar Singh (also known as Gyanu) having won multiple times. Singh has held the seat in 2010, 2015, 2020 and earlier. The shift reflects broader trends in Bihar, where regional parties (especially JD(U)) and the BJP have built vote bases at the expense of the Congress in many places.

Election Numbers (2010–2020)

Between 2010 and 2020, Barh saw close contests and changing vote shares:

Barh Assembly Constituency 2025: Poll Date

The Bihar Legislative Assembly election is scheduled in the Oct–Nov 2025 window under the Election Commission of India’s timetable for the full state poll. The commission releases precise constituency-wise polling dates and phase details closer to voting, and the official schedule and the CEO Bihar portal should be checked for the exact polling day once announced. Expect date to be part of a phased October/November polling schedule.

What to Watch During the 2025 Contest?

1. Incumbency vs Anti-incumbency: Gyanendra Kumar Singh has occupied the chair several times. Will voters be with him as a result of his taking care of local issues like flood control, infrastructure, and services, or will they look for something different?

2. Caste and Community Alignments: The extent of caste (e.g. Kurmi/EBC, upper castes, youth, etc.) and community identities will be shifting, is probable to be the factor which is most decisive.

3. Vote Splitting by Independent and Smaller Candidates: The behavior of elections is that a few independent candidates and smaller party candidates can get a considerable part of the votes.

4. Local Issues: Floods, Irrigation and Infrastructure As mentioned, Barh being very close to the Ganga, flooding is a practice.

5. Development Schemes & Welfare Delivery: How well the state and central welfare or scheme-delivery (e.g. for women, youth employment, health) has reached Barh will be under scrutiny.
