Bengaluru: Man held for not standing on National Anthem ahead of Avengers Endgame show

Earlier this week, Bangalore police have arrested a youth after he disrespected the national anthem. The man refused to stand up for the national anthem that was played before the Avengers: Endgame movie show.

The incident was of INOX Multiplex in Bengaluru’s Garuda Mall on the Magrath Road.

As per the police, Jithin a resident of Sanjayanagar who has returned from Australia got into an argument with a person next to him identified as Suresh Kumar. Suresh had asked Jithin to stand up during the national anthem.

As their argument raised, the people in the theatre hall asked them to leave as they were creating a nuisance for others. But Jithin allegedly hurled personal abuses at Suresh, which triggered the latter to file a police complaint.

As per reports, the police said “There is no compulsion to stand when the national anthem is played but it’s wrong if it is disrespected… Jithin put this across to Suresh, following which the argument started.”

Jithin was arrested immediately but was later released on bail. He then shared his ordeal on Reddit where he explained his stand. He also lashed out at the multiplex for not standing up for him when he was being abused and arrested.
