Bengaluru police announce guidelines for New Year celebrations: On Tuesday, City Police Commissioner B Dayananda issued guidelines for New Year celebrations and emphasized that the police have taken strict measures to ensure the safety of citizens, with a priority on women and children. The commissioner asked citizens to celebrate the New Year peacefully without causing trouble.
The police chief, speaking at a press conference, announced that celebrations will be allowed until 1 a.m. on January 1. We will give more emphasis to the safety of women and erect watch towers. We have installed CCTV cameras at important places to watch over the revelers. The department will closely watch drug peddlers and will conduct a special drive ahead of the celebrations. Law enforcement has been conducting checks for drunk driving for the past week. Pubs and clubs should entertain patrons only according to their seating capacity. He said that strict action would be taken against the owners if they violated it.
During the New Year celebration, MG Road, Brigade Road, St. Mark’s Road, Cubbon Park, Trinity Circle, Phoenix Mall, Koramangala, and Indiranagar 100-foot Road are likely to experience crowded conditions. Major-star hotels, bars, and clubs must implement appropriate security measures to control the crowd. Namma Metro will close from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m., and all flyovers, except for the Airport Road elevated road, will also close.
We will set up Women’s Safety Islands at several places and deploy women officers and staff at major locations. The police department will deploy a total of 3,000 police officers and personnel, including 10 ACPs and 30 police inspectors, at Brigade Road-MG Road, Opera Junction, Richmond Road, and Residency Road.
We will also hold discussions with BBMP, Namma Metro, BMTC, Excise Department, Health Department, Fire Station, Pollution Control Board, BMRCL, and Bescom. Police will tighten security at MG Road, Brigade Road, Cubbon Park, Trinity, Phoenix Mall, and clubs.
The police commissioner said that they have set up police kiosks in strategic areas to address cases of missing children, any kind of theft, or emergencies.
We will install observation towers for surveillance in highly crowded places and provide officers on duty with binoculars. On December 31, authorities will restrict vehicular movements on Brigade Road, and the public can only enter by walking. The authorities will close the MG Road Metro Station from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. to avoid any rush. Hence, we request that the public opt for Trinity and Cubbon Park Metro stations while returning. He added that they will install additional CCTV cameras at key locations and operate drone cameras.

- On Rest House Road, the stretch from Museum Road Junction to Brigade Road Junction.
- At Residency Cross Road, the stretch from Residency Road Junction to MG Road (Shankar Nag Cinema Theatre) is located.
Police vehicles and on-duty emergency service vehicles will park on the following roads from 4 p.m. on December 31 to 3 p.m. on January 31.
- From Anil Kumble Circle to Trinity Circle on MG Road.
- From Arts and Craft Junction up to Opera Junction on Brigade Road.
- From Brigade Road Junction to St. Mark’s Road Junction, there is Church Street.
- From Brigade Road Junction up to Museum Road Junction, Rest House Road is located.
- The stretch from the MG Road junction to the Old Madras Bank Road (SBI) Circle is located on Museum Road.

- Vehicles going from Halasur Road towards Cantonment Road must take a right turn at Trinity Circle and proceed to Halasur Road via Deccan Road, joining Cubbon Road.
- On Kamaraja Road, vehicles can park from Cubbon Road Junction to Commercial Street Junction.
- The public can park their vehicles at the ground-floor parking lot of Shivajinagar BMTC Shopping Complex.
- Pedestrians must use the footpath from MG Road Junction towards Opera Junction on Brigade Road. Prohibiting going in the opposite direction. To return to Residency Road, the public can come via Residency Road-Residency Road Cross (Shankarnag Theatre).
