Anis Amri, the main suspect of attack into a Christmas market in Berlin that killed around 35 people, has reportedly been killed in Italy. Along with Italian news magazine Panorama, Reuters too have reported that Amri was killed in a shootout, citing anonymous security sources.
As per the report, the 24-year-old suspect, Anis Amri shot dead in a shootout. In an exclusive report, Panorama claimed that Amri was killed in a routine traffic stop at 3am today in the Sesto San Giovanni neighborhood this morning. The report however, was not confirmed by the Italian government or any law enforcement officials.
According to Panorama report, Amri pulled out a pistol and started shooting at a officers. The officer who had been on the post for 9 months then killed the suspect. The officer was shot in the shoulder too but is alive.
Another Italian news agency Ansa also reported that a man killed in Milan is the Berlin Christmas market suspect. As per its report he was shot after he pulled out a gun during a “routine road check” in piazza primo maggio.
Amri was said to have spent many years in Italy before he traveled to Germany. There are also separate reports of a shootout in Milan in many Italian newspapers.
