Bihar: 2 coronavirus patients dies due to lack of oxygen supply in Bhagalpur

Of 1,727 COVID cases registered across the state in the last 24 hours, 220 were from Patna, taking the district’s tally to 22,318.

The failed medical facilities in Bihar’s Bhagalpur took the lives of two coronavirus patients on Saturday. According to the reports, the hospital administration fell short of oxygen supply and confirmed two deaths in a row.

Dr Hemshankar Sharma, nodal incharge of corona-dedicated Mayganj Hospital said that the panel at the oxygen plant was being replaced without assigning it. Due to this, the oxygen supply was stalled from 5:05 pm to 5:11 pm. A 50-year-old infected woman has been reported to have died prima facie. The investigation into the case has been handed over to Anesthetics Dr Mahesh Kumar, a report in News4Nation stated.

The health manager of the ICU has been asked for full information on the circumstances under which such an uncomfortable situation has arisen said Superintendent, Mayganj Hospital, Dr Ashok Kumar Bhagat.

State health minister Mangal Pandey on Saturday claimed Bihar has reached the top position in terms of Covid-19 recovery rate. Pandey said 1,965 people have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours. “So far, 1,28,376 people have recovered from COVID in the state taking the recovery rate to 88.01%,” he claimed.

Of 1,727 cases registered across the state in the last 24 hours, 220 were from Patna, taking the district’s tally to 22,318. However, with 20,025 recoveries, active cases stand at 2,116 in Patna district. Muzaffarpur has recorded 126 new cases, Purnia 98 and Araria 83.
