Bihar Election Phase 2 2025: As the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 moves into its final round, the campaign for the second phase came to an end at 6 pm on Sunday. The state now enters the 48-hour silence period before voters head to the booths on November 11.
A total of 122 constituencies spread across 20 districts will vote in this phase. The results will be announced on November 14, bringing to a close one of the most closely watched state elections in recent years.

1,302 Candidates in the Running

The second phase will decide the future of 1,302 candidates after weeks of strong campaigning across the state. Voting will take place in thousands of polling booths in districts like Gaya, Bhagalpur, Madhubani, Katihar, Purnia, and West Champaran. Out of the 122 seats, 101 are General seats, 19 are reserved for Scheduled Castes, and 2 are for Scheduled Tribes.
In total 1,761 people had filed nominations, but after scrutiny, 1,372 were found valid. Later, 70 candidates withdrew their names, leaving 1,302 in the final race. Among them, 1,165 are men, 136 are women, and one belongs to the third gender category. This shows how diverse Bihar’s political contest has become.

Interestingly, 462 of the candidates are Independents, while as many as 109 political parties are taking part in this phase. On average, there are about 11 contestants per seat. The most crowded constituencies are Chainpur, Gaya Town, and Sasaram, each with 22 candidates. On the other hand, Banmankhi, Chanpatia, Lauriya, Raxaul, Sugauli, and Triveniganj have the fewest, with only five candidates each.

The contest is expected to be multi-cornered, with all major parties fielding candidates in significant numbers.

Women in Bihar Politics
Women continue to show their growing strength in Bihar’s politics. Out of all 1,302 candidates, 136 are women, making up about 10% of the total number. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has given tickets to 13 women, Janata Dal (United) to nine, BJP to 10, Indian National Congress to two, and the JSP to 12.
Age and Experience on Display
The age of the candidates ranges widely from 25 to 88 years. The oldest person contesting this time is 88-year-old Bhagwan Mareya from the RJD, who is running from Dhamdaha.
The youngest ones are 25 years old and come from different parties, including Independents, JJP, AAP, BSP, RLJP, INC, and KSD. Most of the candidates are between 31 and 60 years old, bringing together both young energy and seasoned experience.
