Bihar govt reduces school holidays: The Bihar government’s education department has reduced the quantity of holiday breaks in government schools. According to the official announcement, the number of festive holidays in government institutions has been reduced from 23 in September to December to 11. In recent days, Additional Chief Secretary KK Pathak has issued a number of new directives for the development of Bihar’s educational system.
On August 31, there will no longer be a Raksha Bandhan holiday. In addition, the previous six-day holiday for Durga Puja has now been reduced to three days. Additionally, there were nine days off from Diwali to Chhath from November 13 to November 21, but now there will only be one day off for Diwali (on November 12), one day off for Chitragupta Puja on November 15, and two days off for Chhath Puja on November 19 and November 20.
In the revised order issued by the Education Department, it is stated that primary schools and middle schools must have at least 200 working days and 220 working days, respectively. However, due to elections, examinations, festivals, and natural disasters, school studies are disrupted. Aside from this, there is no uniformity in the process of closing schools on the occasion of festivals; schools are open in some districts during some festivals and closed in others; this change will be implemented in the remaining days of 2023 to ensure uniformity in school operation has been carried out.
