Bihar: LJP dares BJP to prioritise allies in the NDA

Ram Vilas Paswan elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha

After the exit of RLSP, another NDA ally in Bihar, Ram Vilas Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) seems to be on bitter note with the BJP in terms of seat sharing and other political preferences.

LJP parliamentary board chief, Chirag Paswan has taken a tough stand against the BJP government and had praised Congress president Rahul Gandhi during a TV show on Wednesday. Just after assembly election results, he praised saying Congress raised issues of farmers and unemployment, we stayed tangled in religion and temples. Pointing out gun at Modi government Chirag expressed his concern over unreachability of many policies with respect to development.

On the other hand, LJP veteran leader and Bihar state president Pashupati Kumar Paras gave an ultimatum to the BJP till 31st December to decide on the seat sharing for upcoming lok sabha polls. He has demanded more seats than previous elections.

BJP way in Bihar no easy: Since last lok sabha polls, BJP’s alliance journey has been a roller coaster ride. After Bihar state assembly elections in 2015, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM parted ways with BJP, recently Upendra Kushwaha’s RLSP left NDA. Fresh jibe from LJP has signaled parallel with former partners of the NDA. According to sources it is said, LJP is planning to send Ram Vilas Paswan to Rajya Sabha at the cost of getting less number of seats in seat sharing but BJP is vehement to this proposal of its ally. Here is the lock jam.

Chirag Paswan’s tweet is aimed at creating the pressure on this very soundless demand of the LJP. Recalling past, Ram Vilas Paswan is known for switching sides in his political carrier be it NDA, UPA or third front he has tasted all sorts of power sharing. This time if Paswan swings back to the other side, it won’t be surprising. So in upcoming political discourse, the lock jam between LJP and BJP may continue and give a new twist in Bihar politics.
