Bihar: National level Table Tennis player allegedly hit by car, succumbs to brain hemorrhage

National level Table Tennis Player, Priya Kumari, who also served as a lower class clerk in the building department was severely injured in a road accident near Patna High Court on Wednesday and succumbed to brain hemorrhage.

Police have not been able to identify the culprit even on the fourth day from the day incident took place.

The player was hit by a black Nexon car without a number plate that flagged a political party. The car was sezied by the police on the accident spot. The discussion has also been fanning as the vehicle was covered by a tarpaulin on Sunday at the traffic station Gandhi Maidan.

Gandhi Maidan Traffic SHO refused to reveal any detail about the owner of the black Nexon. The traffic SP and other preferred officers failed to contact the owner despite the efforts.

Talking about the case, Priya, on Wednesday evening, was on her way to her residence in Kadamkuan from her office. Priya’s Honda Activa Scooty was hit from behind by a black Nexon car that was coming from Boring Road near High Court.

Meanwhile, the police near the spot admitted Priya to the PMCH(Patna Medical College and Hospital) in the same car. After her health detoriated, she was shifted to Tara nursing home.

This is not the first road accident in Bihar wherein a political party is involved. In February 2018, nine children were killed and 24 injured when a speeding vehicle slammed into a school at Muzaffarpur in Bihar. The accused was alleged to be a BJP worker. The party worker allegedly mowed down nine children and injured several. The accussed was identified as Manoj Baitha. Baitha’s SUV ran them over on National Highway 77 when they were on their way home from school.

The BJP then tried to distance itself from Baitha, but as outrage grew, with family members of the victims staging protests and the police registering an FIR against him, the party announced his suspension.
