Bihar: Nitish‘s deputy Sushil Modi is richer than him – Annual disclosure of assets

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his cabinet declared their annual assets for 2018. Nitish Kumar saw a drop in his assets. The details of movable & immovable assets filed by him show a dip in his cash holdings. According to the details, Kumar had Rs. 45,566 in 2017 which came down to Rs. 40,039 in 2018. While immovable assets worth Rs. 16.24 lakh in 2017 has reduced to Rs. 16.18 lakh. Apart from this Nitish Kumar possess two four-wheelers, has a loan of Rs. 43,000 and doesn’t hold any cultivable land.

On the other hand, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi has become richer. He has a bank balance of Rs. 87,58, 940. He has a loan of Rs. 14 lakh which is far more than that of Nitish Kumar’s. His movable and immovable property worth Rs. 1.51 crores. At present Modi has cash of Rs. 46,600 while his wife has Rs. 38,500. In 2017, Modi had Rs. 42,600 in cash while his wife had Rs. 35,500. Figures show that Sushil Modi has grown richer than Nitish Kumar.

State’s Agriculture Minister, Prem Kumar has declared possessing a pistol. His family owns more than 7 Kgs of silver and more than 400 gms of gold. State’s Energy Minister, Bijendra Prasad Yadav declared total assets worth Rs. 80 lakh out of immovable asset worth Rs. 27 lakh and gold deposit worth Rs. 32 lakh.

Asset declaration of Industry Minister, Jai Kumar Singh, mentions Rs. 59 lakh in the bank, a pistol, a rifle, a Fortuner car and a loan of Rs. 35 lakh. He has cash of Rs. 30,000.

Road Development of Bihar, Nand Kishor Yadav declared possession of cash worth Rs. 41 lakh and immovable asset of Rs. 65 lakh.

These figures were put in the public domain on the last day of the calendar year, 2018. Nitish Kumar made it mandatory for ministers and bureaucrats in the state to declare their assets so as to bring transparency and accountability.
