Bihar universities will have to regularize academic session till 2023 March

This commitment was reiterated by the University itself in the last meeting held with the then Education Minister.

The state government has asked all the traditional universities of Bihar to regularize the academic session till March 2023 in the interest of the students. The university had to work on the pending examinations till December itself. This commitment was reiterated by the University itself in the last meeting held with the then Education Minister. The Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department has reminded the university of its promise and has urged to update the academic calendar from the new session in any case. On Monday, the Additional Chief Secretary held a meeting with the Vice Chancellors of the traditional universities of the state through video conferencing. Apart from Deepak Kumar Singh, Education Secretary Asangba Chuba Aao, Higher Education Director Dr. Rekha Kumari, Deputy Director Ajit Kumar on behalf of the Education Department while Vice Chancellors of other universities except KSD joined online in this meeting. During the meeting, the functioning of the university was reviewed on 7 points. However, more emphasis was on the academic calendar. Barring PU, almost all other universities are lagging behind by six months to one and a half years in taking examinations and giving results. Most pending sessions are going on in Magadha and JP University. The ACS asked the Vice Chancellors of these two universities to make special efforts to update the session.

At the meeting held on Monday, point-wise universities will also have to send their report to the Education Department.

The Education Department wants to issue the requisition for the reinstatement of the principal soon, regarding this, the divisional level was asked to get the roster clearance done soon. All the universities were asked to upload on the vacancy portal soon for an appointment to the posts of third-class personnel. The six universities that have not made proposals regarding the implementation of the new pension scheme will have to send them soon. If the university wants to settle the pending court cases in the universities, the education department will help them. The task of clearing the pending applications of girl students regarding the benefits of the incentive scheme was entrusted soon. The Education Department has sought consent from the Vice Chancellors who have not taken the initiative for e-library at the earliest.

No ban on the promotion of teachers appointed eight years ago

In the meeting, it was clarified by the Directorate of Higher Education that there is neither a ban on the selection committee nor there is a ban on the promotion of Associate Professors appointed before 8 years. In the letter sent to the universities in July of 2021, related to the Statute 2018, the promotion of those coming under its JD will not be done at the moment. The new statute is under process, once it is stamped, this ban will also be removed.
