Patna: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 13 districts in Bihar, warning of rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and winds reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h.
The affected districts include East Champaran, West Champaran, Banka, Madhubani, Kishanganj, Sitamarhi, Araria, Sheohar, Khagaria, Munger, Jamui, Supaul, and Bhagalpur.
The IMD has forecast that the monsoon is likely to arrive in the state by June 15, with rainfall expected to exceed previous years’ averages, raising concerns over potential flooding in vulnerable regions.

Meanwhile, the IMD has also predicted humid and sultry weather for the next four days in several parts of the state.
Over the past 24 hours, areas such as Patna, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Gaya, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Kaimur, Aurangabad, and Arwal have experienced little to no rainfall, although cloud cover has persisted. Some relief showers were reported by evening in Patna, Madhubani, Supaul, Katihar, Raxaul, Araria, Jamui, and Nawada, but they provided little respite from the oppressive heat.
As Bihar braces for the approaching monsoon, residents are advised to stay alert for weather updates and take necessary precautions.
