Corruption, cover-up, shielding guilty is Congress history: Ravi Shankar Prasad

BJP strongly lashed out at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for ‘levelling baseless allegations’ against PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday. Senior BJP leader and union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said on Wednesday that Rahul Gandhi is frustrated owing to repeated poll defeats in several states and therefore in sadness he is levelling baseless allegations against PM Modi.

Strongly rejecting against Rahul’s claims, Prasad said, “Rahul is trying to divert focus from AgustaWestland scam as his family’s name is coming up in the scam.”  “Rahul Gandhi is leading his party to repeated disastrous defeat; public doesn’t think Congress is able enough to run municipalities,” Prasad said citing poll defeats of Congress in municipal elections.

Prasad also said that Rahul must remember that he is out on bail in National Herald case. “Not a word was spoken by Rahul Gandhi on the series of stinking corruption which became an integral part of Manmohan Singh’s govt,” he added.

“Congress did not even spare the sky, space, land, under the land and even sea in corruption,” he said. “Rahul has a habit of levelling hollow allegations,” Prasad said adding that, “I strongly condemn the baseless allegations levelled by Rahul against our PM who is as pure and pious as Ganga.”

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi had said that PM Narendra Modi had received crores from Sahara and Birla groups as Gujarat Chief Minister. At a rally in north Gujarat, Rahul asked whether the entries found in the companies’ records about money, given to him were true or false.

He demanded an independent probe into the matter.

According to Rahul, Sahara paid Modi ₹40 crore in 9 instalments between October 30, 2013, and February 22, 2014. As per another record, Birlas promised to pay ₹25 crore to “the Gujarat Chief Minister,” of which ₹ 12 crore were paid.

“The records are with the I-T Department for the past two-and-a-half years, yet no action has been taken. Who prevented them from probing into the matter and why?” Gandhi asked.
