Bollywood’s Richest Man Ronnie Screwvala:When the richest and most well-known Bollywood celebrities are the topic of discussion, fans from the various corners of the world may quickly mention the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, but according to the most recent Hurun India Rich List 2025, the producer and media tycoon Ronnie Screwvala presents a different scenario, with net worth estimated at ₹13,314 crore being placed at the top of the wealth ladder.
Bollywood’s Richest Man Ronnie Screwvala

Screwvala’s initial encounter with Bollywood was not the most glamorous one. His earliest attempts at film production faced resistance, just like many others who were trying to break into Hindi cinema from outside.

The UTV Motion Pictures company’s first movie Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein (1997), created with the help of his wife Zarina, was unsuccessful at the box office, which was an unexpected humbling blow for the newly appointed producer. Funny situations, such as a cobra drinking milk on the set of the movie, were among the positive sides of the failure.

Screwvala went through several years of continuous setbacks in a row; at least five movies he produced did not make it through the box office, and his loyalty and determination towards the film industry were greatly challenged by that. An industry like this one would drive many to give up. But Screwvala’s case was different; he wasn’t going to quit; he had only one way to go, and that was to stick with it.

Reinvention and Breakthrough

Ronnie’s cinematic journey took a momentous turn with more astute and meaningful storytelling. Films like Rang De Basanti, which is now counted as an iconic work of modern Indian cinema, not only marked the downfall of the producer with his ‘content’ eye but also enabled the industry to come to the realization of his talent. The endorsement of his artistry was so strong that it actually changed the entire course of his career from getting mired in hurdles to acquiring triumphs smoothly and swiftly.

After restructuring his creative and business approach, Ronnie left UTV (which he had once built up from scratch) and launched RSVP Movies, a production house that would go on to back a wide range of critically acclaimed and commercially successful films.

Business Beyond Filmmaking

Bollywood’s wealth ranking did not only benefit from Srewala’s film production but also media skills, entrepreneurial skills, and ability to see wider possibilities. His previous project, UTV Software Communications, worked with the international entertainment companies like 20th Century Fox and The Walt Disney Company, and later Disney acquired it for around $1.4 billion.
The Richest Man in Bollywood
As per Hurun India Rich List 2025, Ronnie Screwvala has reached the top of the list of Bollywood billionaires with a fortune of ₹13,314 crores, which is even higher than the internationally awarded stars like Shah Rukh Khan whose diverse business interests have raised his worth to about ₹12,490 crores.
