The National Security Guard (NSG) team and the bomb disposal squad reached at the Red Fort soon after they received a call about a grenade being found in a well in the fort. The grenade was found Thursday evening in one of the wells behind the publication building. Fire tenders have also reached the place after the bomb alert.

Recently, few boxes of explosives and other stuff were found in a well inside the Red Fort that left the entire team of police frightened. Currently, the officials are inspecting some other things they have found in and around the monument.

The grenade and explosives were found during a cleanup drive in the fort area. Soon, the NSG was told, said a senior police officer.

“When the wells inside the Red Fort were being cleaned by the ASI, some ammunition and explosive boxes were discovered in one of the wells behind the publication building. Police after cordoning the area immediately informed the NSG and the Army. NSG bomb disposal teams were at the spot,” said the officer, reported India.com.

“Five mortars and 44 live rounds were recovered from the well at around 5 PM. There were 87 fired rounds that were also found,” an NSG official said.
