Anantnag: A tourist guide lost his life while saving five people including two foreign tourists from drowning in Lidder River in Mawoora, Pahalgam, situated in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Rouf Ahmad Dar, the tourist guide, was a resident of Yeened. His body was retrieved from the river near Bhawani Bridge today morning by the SDRF, Police personnel, according to The Kashmir Walla report.

“He showed the real spirit of humanity and Kashmiriyat by saving five persons including two tourists at the cost of his own life,” the locals said. They urged the government to recognize the bravery of Dar and provide compensation to his family.

Shahid Choudhary, an IAS officer, tweeted, “Rouf Ahmed Dar, a local Kashmiri guide attained martyrdom while successfully saving the life of 7 tourists. Valour & Courage. RIP.
