Cocktail parties aren’t the only location where you have to pay attention to your dress code, most workplaces have dress codes as well. Making sure you follow the dress code guidelines can be annoying.
While most parts of the world are complaining about the scorching heat, especially at a time when global temperature is on the rise, one man decided to take it easy on himself this summer. One fine day, when a 20-year-old call centre employee from Buckinghamshire wore shorts to the office, he was sent back home for breaching the office rules.
After this he took to Twitter to ask a question, ‘If women can wear skirts/dresses at work can I wear smart shorts like so?’
Taking a stand against following a dress-code, Joey decided to show up wearing a pink dress to work!
This act, however, could be viewed from the aspect of gender parity, especially in a world where it is unacceptable for a man to dress in a woman’s clothes. As our patriarchal society weaves it, men, obviously more masculine, are considered to be feminine if they wear a woman’s attire. These notions are so ingrained into our heads that any man dressed in woman’s clothing is a battle of eyelids.
Notably, Joey’s attempt was not completely futile. As he decided to take a stand, Joey’s office allowed men to wear shorts to work considering the heat!
