5:55 PM| IIT Madras has been shut down after 100 people tested positive for the coronavirus. This includes 33 new cases on Monday. Previously, 66 students and five staff members had tested positive. The campus was closed down after it became a hotspot.


5:45 PM| Google service abruptly went down on Monday evening. According to the popular website Down Detector, many Google services including YouTube, Gmail, Google and Google Drive are not working for many users. Apart from these websites, Down Detector claims that even Google Play, Google Maps, Google Hangouts, Google Duo and Google Meet are not working for many.

11:00 AM| Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday urged people to observe a one-day fast in solidarity with farmers protesting against the farm laws. He himself is doing so in response to a call given by the farmers protesting at the Singhu border near Delhi. “Fasting is sacred. Wherever you are, fast for our farmer brothers. Pray to God for the success of their struggle,” Kejriwal wrote in a tweet in Hindi. “In the end, farmers will definitely win,” he also said.


10:15 AM| As the stir at Delhi borders protesting against the Centre’s contentious agriculture laws entered Day 19, the heads of all farmer unions started a hunger strike from 8 am today as part of their plan to intensify their agitation from December 14.  Addressing a press conference at the Singhu border on Sunday, where the farmers have been camping since November 26, farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni said the leaders will observe the hunger strike at their respective places. “Also dharnas will be staged at all district headquarters across the country. The protest will go on as usual,” he told PTI.


In the next 24 hours, rain is expected in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Vasai-Virar, parts of Madhya Pradesh, and some parts of the western coast. The intensity of rain will reduce by the evening but cloudiness and low visibility will continue.
