CalFresh Recertification May 2024

CalFresh Recertification May 2024: CalFresh is California’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which provides nutrition assistance to low-income individuals and families. When should an individual re-apply? Can they re-apply?

In order to qualify for CalFresh, households must meet certain income guidelines, as well as household size and expenses. The program is available to individuals and families who qualify.

Once approved, eligibility lasts for six months after the application date, then a report on the household’s details must be provided.

A change in the household may result in changes to the amount of benefits offered by the program. This is called the Semi-Annual Report (SAR7).

CalFresh recipients must submit a new application before the 15th of the month when their certification period expires in order to maintain eligibility.

If your certification period ends in May 2024, you must submit your recertification application by May 15, 2024.

Eligible households receive a monthly benefit amount based on household size, income, and expenses.

Using an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, which works like a debit card, you can buy eligible food items at participating grocery stores, supermarkets, and farmers’ markets.

Can CalFresh be recertified?

To maintain eligibility, recipients must report any changes in their circumstances, such as income or household composition, to ensure they will continue to receive CalFresh benefits.

Online, by mail, or in person, individuals can reapply for CalFresh. Even if a household has previously been approved, the application process typically requires providing information about household members, income, expenses, and other relevant details.

It will be due 12 months after the application date. Re-applications are very similar to Recertification Reports, and they can be completed online. Any changes within the last six months need to be reported.
