California Tax Refund Stimulus Payment: The Middle Class Tax Refund (MCTR) is a one-time gift that Californians get to help them deal with rising prices.

The California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) says that this payment has helped almost 32,000,000 California workers and their families.

Who is able to get the MCTR?

If you meet these conditions, you might be able to get the money:

  • You turned in your tax return for 2020 by October 15, 2021.
  • You have enough money in your California adjusted gross income (CA AGI).
  • In the 2020 tax year, they couldn’t be claimed as a child.
  • lived in California for at least six months in the 2020 tax year.
  • is a resident of California on the date the payment is sent.

Most MCTR payments have been made, according to FTB. However, some payments need more work and may be made after the payment date shown.

After not getting paid, what should you do?

If you think you should have gotten a payment and haven’t checked your bank account since February 14, 2023, to make sure you didn’t, you should.

Most of the people who were eligible got paid between October 2022 and February 2023. If you made a donation, you should check your bank account to see if “FTB MCT REFUND MCT REFUND” sent you money.

  • Visit https://webapp.ftb.ca.gov/return/login to see where your California state refund is at any time in case the deposit is lost.
  • You’ll need to put the following information there:
  • Number for social security
  • Numbers in your address, if you have them
  • Number of characters
  • How much money you’ll get back
  • Click on “Check your refund” next.

Finally, you can write to the Franchise Tax Board at P.O. Box 942840, Sacramento, CA 942840-0040 to find out the state of your return.
