Capitalmind Flexi Cap Fund: A new flexi cap mutual fund is set to enter the market as Capitalmind Asset Management Company (AMC) gets ready to launch its first ever mutual fund, the Capitalmind Flexi Cap Fund. Deepak Shenoy, CEO of Capitalmind AMC, shared a small teaser online on July 12, simply writing “Next Friday,” which hinted at the launch date. Now it’s confirmed that the New Fund Offer (NFO) will open on July 18, 2025.
Capitalmind had earlier filed the draft offer document with SEBI in June this year. With this launch, Capitalmind’s scheme will join a competitive space where 39 other flexi cap funds already exist.
Popular funds in this category include Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund, HDFC Flexi Cap Fund, and Kotak Flexi Cap Fund. All these funds together manage more than ₹4.8 lakh crore in assets every day, as per AMFI data from July 10. Parag Parikh Flexi Cap alone holds over ₹1.1 lakh crore in daily AUM.
The top six players in this category manage over ₹3.17 lakh crore, which shows how crowded this space is. These include Parag Parikh, HDFC, Kotak, UTI, Aditya Birla Sun Life, and SBI Flexi Cap Funds.
Some of the those schemes the following:
- WhiteOak Capital Flexi Cap Fund: Launched on August 2, 2022
- Helios Flexi Cap Fund: Launched on November 13, 2023
- Baroda BNP Paribas Flexi Cap Fund: Launched on August 22, 2022
- Mirae Asset Flexi Cap Fund: Launched on February 24, 2023
- Bajaj Finserv Flexi Cap Fund: Launched on August 14, 2023.
only some of these funds have performed better than their benchmarks over 10 years. Others haven’t done as well. Still, many investors choose flexi cap funds because they invest across large cap, mid cap, and small cap stocks. And now, Capitalmind is ready to join the race.
This is How Capitalmind Plans to Run its New Fund
This upcoming fund from Capitalmind will be an open ended, dynamic equity scheme. It will invest across all market sizes large, mid, and small and will follow an “active” investing style. This means the fund managers won’t follow any fixed formula, but will actively pick and choose stocks based on market data, trends, and research.
The benchmark index for this fund will be Nifty 500 TRI, which is quite common for other flexi cap funds too. A few others follow BSE 500 TRI, but most stick to Nifty 500. The company said this index suits the fund’s performance comparison the best.
Investment strategy
As per the fund’s document, Capitalmind Flexi Cap Fund will “employ a rule-based active approach using proprietary rule sets developed through an analysis of market, macroeconomic, and fundamental factors” reported Upstox.
It says, “Our equity allocation decisions are data-driven, based on objective market variables, including but not limited to macroeconomic variables, current equity market valuations and interest rates.”

But in the end, the fund manager will take the final call “based on the data referenced above, but may also be based on specific subjective analysis of underlying securities.”
Anoop Vijaykumar will be managing the fund. He has been with Capitalmind since 2019 and led the PMS team, but this will be his first time handling a regular mutual fund. The fund will offer only Growth options under both Direct and Regular plans. There won’t be any entry load, but if investors sell or switch their units within 12 months of buying, they will have to pay 1% exit load.
Investment amount
-
Minimum application amount (lumpsum): ₹5,000 and in multiples of ₹1 thereafter
-
Systematic Investment Plan (SIP): ₹1,000 and in multiples of ₹1 thereafter with a minimum of 6 instalments.
The NFO will be priced at ₹10 per unit.
Capitalmind Flexi Cap Fund: Is it the Right Fund for You?
This scheme is meant for investors who are looking to create long-term wealth and are okay with high risk. Since it will invest in all sizes of companies, the returns can be strong, but the risks will also be high. The fund might suit people who are already familiar with equity investing and are looking to diversify with a new active flexi cap strategy.

But investors should also know that Capitalmind AMC has no track record in managing mutual funds. The fund manager has experience in PMS but hasn’t yet managed a public mutual fund. There are already many flexi cap funds available in the market. If you already invest in one of them, switching to this new fund may not be necessary.
