PC Sharma, Madhya Pradesh Law Minister stated that all the cases filed on 2nd April 2018, with regards to ‘Bharat Band’ that took place over SC/ST Act 1989 will be withdrawn.

Earlier, BSP had given an ultimatum to the ruling Congress governments in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh for withdrawing filed cases during the April 2018 Bharat Bandh over dilution of the SC/ST Act. BSP had further said they would “reconsider” the decision to give outside support to the government in states.

The election in Madhya Pradesh took place on 28 November while the vote counting of all the five elections took place on 11 December. Congress managed to bag 114 seats, two short of the majority number of 116. Kamal Nath government came in with an alliance of 2 MLAs from BSP, 1 from SP and 4 independents, taking the tally to 121.

In case of Rajasthan Congress won 99 seats, and formed government with 6 BSP MLAs, 3 CPI (M) leaders, 2 BTP & 1 RLD and 9 independent, taking the total seats to 119. The elections took place here on December 7, the vote counting began on December 11.
