Besides newly-elected AAP MLAs, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, and other leaders wearing yellow turbans took part in the ceremony.
The cricketer-turned-politician shared the information about his resignation on his twitter handle.
Besides Kejriwal, no other Chief Minister will be present in the oath-taking ceremony, according to AAP sources.
The Aam Aadmi Party romped home by winning 92 seats in the 117-member Punjab assembly. The Congress was routed in the elections and could win only 18 seats.
As per highly placed sources, Mann will meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in the Parliament tomorrow. AAP bagged a landslide victory in Punjab Assembly elections.
Ahead of the roadshow, the two leaders visited Golden Temple, Durgiana Temple and Jallianwala Bagh memorial. The swearing-in ceremony of the new government will be held on March 16 at Khatkar Kalan, the native village of legendary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.
Ugoke, who defeated the outgoing Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi from the Bhadaur seat with a margin of 37,550 votes, used to work in a mobile repairing shop.
Mann reached the Raj Bhawan here around 10:30 am. Mann was elected the AAP’s legislature party leader at a meeting of the party MLAs in Mohali on Friday.
“I am going to Delhi to meet the founder of our party Arvind Kejriwal,” said Mann before leaving from Sangrur to Delhi.
Kaur won the Assembly constituency Amritsar East constituency by bagging total votes of 39,679. Trailing second behind the AAP candidate was Congress’ Sidhu with 32,929 votes.
Mann has won from Sangrur district’s Dhuri assembly constituency by a margin of 58,206 votes over Congress’ Dalvir Singh Goldy.
It is AAP’s maiden victory in the state and a vast improvement from its performance in the 2017 elections when it had finished second behind Congress.
Channi got over 23,000 votes in the Bhadaur constituency. He lost against Aam Aadmi Party’s Labh Singh Ugoke who got over 57,000 votes. While in Chamkaur Sahib, Channi got 50,000 votes, while Aam Aadmi Party’s candidate who has a similar name – Charanjit Singh – got over 54,000 votes.

Addressing a people after the massive victory of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Kejriwal said, “‘Punjab waalo tussi kamaal kar ditta’ (Punjab you did amazing), we all love you, Punjab. The results show massive ‘inquilaab’ (revolution), big seats have shaken up.”
Punjab Lok Congress leader Captain Amarinder Singh is also trailing at second place after second round of counting. Charanjit Singh Channi was trailing from Chamkaur Sahib.
The AAP leader also took a dig at those questioning the prediction of exit polls in Punjab and referred to lines of famous poet Mirza Ghalib “Dil behlane ko Ghalib khayal achha hai”. “Wait for one day and you will be wiped out,” he said.
Addressing a press conference today, Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal said, “SAD represents the voice of people. I hope God gives us the chance to do Seva of the people.”
Notably, the SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal contested from Jalalabad Assembly constituency in Punjab Assembly elections. His wife, Harsimrat Kaur Badal is a Lok Sabha MP.

Badal also predicted that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would fail to cross its tally of 20 seats that it won in the 2017 polls while the Congress was likely to be reduced to less than 10 seats in 117-member Punjab assembly.
