CBI Special Director Rakesh Asthana has also moved Supreme Court minutes ahead of Supreme Court hearing on CBI chief Alok Verma’s petition challenging the decision of the Centre to divest him of his duties and sending him on leave. The petition was filed through advocate Amit Anand Chowdhury a few minutes ago.

All eyes are on the Supreme Court today as it hears CBI Director Alok Verma’s petition challenging the Narendra Modi government’s decision to send him on an indefinite leave.
Mr Verma had taken the government to court over its midnight action on Tuesday, saying the autonomy of the country’s main investigating agency is being compromised. He was stripped of his powers after his feud with his deputy Rakesh Asthana came out in the open, with each trading bribery charges.
A three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justices SK Kaul and KM Joseph will hear Alok Verma’s petition.
