Central Railway Holi Special MEMU Trains:In a major travel update ahead of this year’s Holi festivities, Central Railway has announced six unreserved Holi special train services to help passengers manage the heavy rush between Mumbai’s Panvel and Ratnagiri in the Konkan region. This surge in rail services is timed perfectly to support travellers heading home or to holiday destinations during one of India’s busiest festival travel periods.

From February 25 until March 18 in 2026 more than 1200 trains will operate special Holi services throughout the India to handle expected passenger demand which will help festival travelers experience more comfortable travel.

The Central Railway system plans to announce unreserved train services for Panvel to Ratnagiri to reduce congestion in the Mumbai–Konkan rail corridor because this announcement represents their main plan.

What’s New: Six Unreserved MEMU Specials

Central Railway currently scheduled six more MEMU unreserved services which will operate between Panvel and Ratnagiri. The system provides general class passengers with travel options that let them book their trips on the day of travel without needing to book in advance.

Here’s how the service is structured:

  • Train No. 01157 MEMU Special departs Panvel at 4.40 pm on February 27, February 28, and March 1, 2026, reaching Ratnagiri at 11.55 pm the same day.
  • Train No. 01158 MEMU Special leaves Ratnagiri at 9.00 am on the same three dates and arrives back at Panvel by 4.10 pm.
  • Each of these trains is made up of eight MEMU coaches to accommodate the high volume of travellers.

The service stops at key stations on the Konkan route, including Roha, Mangaon, Veer, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road and Ukshi, among others.

What Else Passengers Should Know?

Along with the six MEMU specials, Central Railway has also made adjustments to other unreserved services in the region:

The Diva-Chiplun unreserved specials’ departure dates have been revised to March 2, 2026, though timing, halts, and coach composition remain unchanged.

Passengers are advised to keep an eye on official railway enquiry platforms such as the NTES app or the Central Railway website for detailed schedules, platform information, and real-time updates as travel dates approach.
