The counting of votes for civic polls conducted on 105 Urban Local Bodies (ULB) of Karnataka has begun. The State Election Commission (SEC) will declare all the results of civic polls conducted in 105 Urban Local Bodies of Karnataka by today in the evening. Elections in the 105 ULBs were conducted on Friday. The total voter turnout recorded was 63.2 percent being. The civic bodies, spread across 24 districts, include 3 city corporations, 23 town panchayat, 29 city municipalities and 53 town municipalities. In all, a total of 2,662 wards were up for grabs.
For the safe and smooth conduct of polls, 40,000 security personnel were deployed in the 24 districts where the poll-bound ULBs were located. The total electorate strength was 49.33 lakh, out of which 13.33 lakh were to vote in the three city corporations — Mysuru, Shivamogga and Tumakuru.
