Chhattisgarh Congress chief Bhupesh Baghel sent to jail in sex CD case

In poll-bound state due this year, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President, Bhupesh Baghel sent to judicial custody for 15 days by special CBI court in Raipur. Next hearing is fixed on 8th October. Baghel didn’t file for the bail application. Bhupesh Baghel didn’t move his bail application or engage a lawyer for that matter. He himself represented his case in the court.

The case was filed against Bhupesh Baghel on basis of a complaint filed by Chattisgarh Minister Rajesh Munat in connection with alleged sex CD scandal of Munat. Besides the state PCC chief, former BBC journalist Vinod Verma was granted bail and the court also removed the extortion charges against him. Another accused Vijay Bhatia, a businessman, has also been granted bail.

Baghel reaches court barefoot

Baghel arrived court premise barefoot today. After the order, when he came out of the court, he was surrounded by his supporters and they started protesting and sloganeering. The police have a tough time while taking him to the jail. Protesters burnt the effigy of the Raman Singh government outside the court premise.

CBI produces the challan again

The first challan was not complete and the court also rejected it and asked the CBI to resubmit. CBI was scolded by the court for the half-hearted preparation for the case. Baghel was present inside throughout the event.

The Congress party has alleged that the CBI is a parrot of the Government and such actions are taken at the behest of the BJP. Congress also alleged that it is a politically motivated move by the Bhartiya Janata Party.
