Ahead of assembly election, Chhattisgarh state government led by chief minister Raman Singh has announced that it will provide water for 2018-19 rabi crop. “The state government has decided to provide water for the Rabi crops in the ensuing season 2018-19,”  state government spokesperson said on Thursday in Raipur.

Earlier, the government announced a bonus of Rs 300 per quintal for the farmers. In the poll-bound state, both the announcements are considered as a masterstroke from the Chhattisgarh government to woo farmers. There are total 1.3 million farmers in Chhattisgarh and paddy is the major crop of state. The government has set a goal to procure 7.5 million tonnes of paddy in the kharif marketing season 2018-19.
