Janta Congress Chhattisgarh chief Ajit Jogi, who parted ways with Congress in 2016 and stated that he is neither with Congress nor BJP. Further Congress alleged that Ajit Jogi is a ‘B Team’ of BJP and he is trying to create a negative image of Congress in tribal regions of the state.
Following the allegation, Ajit Jogi announced he will contest against incumbent Raman Singh from Rajanandgaon.
Speaking on the lines of ‘B Team’, Ajit Jogi stated that, “Had I been B team, I would not be contesting election from Rajnandgaon (the chief minister’s constituency). Had I been B team. I would have not faced a baseless case of murder. There should not be a false case of dacoity against me. My son faced charges of hatching a conspiracy to murder. Had I been B team, this all would not have happened”.
However, on Sunday Ajit Jogi took a u-turn over contesting the election and decided to contest from Marwahi constituency and political experts claimed that Jogi has given a walk over to Raman Singh.
Earlier, there was a proposed BSP and Congress alliance in Chhattisgarh, however, BSP ruled out Congress and formed an alliance with Ajit Jogi’s party. According to sources, BSP and Janta Congress Chhattisgarh alliance would mainly damage Congress, as both the parties have a massive influence among the tribal communities of the state.
On October 13, Ramdayal Uike, Congress MLA from the Pali Tanakhar constituency joined the BJP while party president Amit Shah was campaigning in the state. It is a known fact that Uike is extremely close to Ajit Jogi and his step to join BJP is backed by Ajit Jogi, sources claimed.
Talking about Uike’s joining Ajit Jogi said that “Uike felt marginalised in the Congress as it was giving importance to other leaders in the party”. Raman Singh stated the move as “Homecoming”.
Since from the inception of Janta Congress Chhattisgarh, Ajit Jogi is facing a resentment from Congress supporters, as they claimed that, Jogi is providing an extra advantage to BJP for electoral battle.
