Christian Michel lands in Delhi amidst high security of CBI

New Delhi: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has managed to bring back Christian Michel the alleged middleman in Agusta Westland chopper deal on late Tuesday night. Amidst high security, he was taken to the CBI headquarters.

Michel is extradited from Dubai and he is likely to be produced before a special CBI court in Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Wednesday.

He will be produced before special judge Arvind Kumar in the court.

The Enforcement Directorate has accused Michel of receiving around 225 crore rupees from AgustaWestland as a bribe. He is one of the three middlemen being examined in the case.

The CBI issued a statement saying; “Wanted fugitive criminal Christian Michel James who has been avoiding criminal proceedings in India in AgustaWestland Case is being extradited by UAE Authorities to India. Under the guidance of Ajit Doval, National Security Advisor (NSA), the entire operation is being coordinated by Incharge Director/CBI M Nageshwara Rao. A team led by A Sai Manohar, Joint Director/CBI has been to Dubai for the purpose.”

Christian extradition is claimed as a major success by the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party leaders and they are giving the credit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi led NDA government and NSA Ajit Doval.
