CJP Founder Abhijeet Dipke’s Grandmother Dies: Savitribai Shankar Dipke, the grandmother of CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, died at 85. Her family says she passed away in Santuk Pimpri, a village in Maharashtra’s Hingoli district.

Her death was reported only a few hours after Abhijeet Dipke was detained by Delhi Police at the airport. That delay has led people to wonder if he can get to Maharashtra for the last rites.

Family members say Savitribai had been sick for a while. Still, the quick gap between the two events has put the family under fresh strain. With so little time in between, the main question is whether Dipke will be allowed to leave Delhi. It is not yet clear if he will reach his village before the funeral.

Dhruv Rathee Detained, CJP Leaders Held Ahead of Delhi Protest: Is Police Action Legal?

What Happened to Abhijeet Dipke?

Dipke was reportedly stopped by Delhi Police not long after he landed at the Delhi airport. People are now watching what led to the stop and when he might be allowed to leave.

“Multiple police officials from the southwest district police were deployed at the Delhi airport to detain Dipke, Das, Ranka and other CJP leaders or supporters arriving in different flights from different states and cities. Special passes were issued to the officials for their access to the airport premises. The three CJP leaders have been detained,” one officer said, asking not to be named.

In their statement, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) strongly condemns the “authoritarian detention” of CJP leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka straight from their flight upon landing in Delhi.

“This pre-planned interception by the Delhi Police aims to cripple the leadership of today’s peaceful demonstrations before they even reach the protest site. The CJP denounces this blatant violation of freedom of movement and demands the immediate, unconditional release of Dipke, Das, and Ranka,” the statement said.

More details are still needed about his legal situation. It is also unclear if he will be able to go to the Hingoli district to stay with his family during the mourning period. The situation remains developing, and updates regarding Dipke’s detention and his grandmother’s last rites are awaited.
