Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav has hinted the possibility of ‘friendship’ between him and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi saying, “Do acche log mil jaye to kya kharab baat hai? (If two good human beings meet, what’s wrong in that?).

Akhilesh also called Rahul a good human being and a good boy and said that if he spends more time in UP, we can also have friendship with him. The minister was speaking to media after a cabinet meeting.

Rahul Gandhi who is on 2,500 ‘Kisan Mahayatra’ in the state, is going soft on the state government while aggressively attacking Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their politics in UP.

When Akhilesh was asked about the possibility of coalition between Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress, he replied saying “Aap isme rajniti kyun dekh rahe hain (Why are you seeing politics in it?”)

On locals carrying away cots, many on their bicycles, after Mr. Gandhi’s ‘Khat Panchayat’, Mr. Yadav said, “At least the bicycle (SP’s poll symbol) has some use for them…had it been taken by samajwadis, you (media) would have said samajwadi goondas took it away.”
