BJP ruled states report highest number of crimes against SC, STs

According to National Crime Record Bureau’s annual data BJP-ruled states of Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan have reported the highest rates of crimes against Scheduled Castes in 2015. Gujarat reported the highest crime rate against Dalits (163.3%, 6,655 cases), followed by Chhattisgarh (91.9%, 3,008 cases), Rajasthan (58.5%, 7,144 cases).

Uttar Pradesh which is the most populous state with 204.2 million reported 8,946 – the most number of cases of crime against Dalits. But the crime rate against SC’s in UP is much is much lower only 21.6% as compared to BJP rules states.

The crime rates have gone up from 27.70% in 2014 in Gujarat to 163.3% and 32.60% in Chhattisgarh in 2014 to 91.9%.

Rajasthan has reported the highest number of economic crimes, followed by Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, says the NCRB data. The cases related to murder, rape, dowry and assault on women modesty were recorded the highest in Delhi. The national capital also reported the highest number of cognisable crimes – those crimes for which the police can take action on its own without waiting for a formal complaint from the victim.
