Barkha Shukla Singh has been expelled from Congress on Friday for 6 years, soon after she attacked INC vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Delhi unit head Ajay Maken and quit as local women’s wing chief.

She has been removed from the party for being involved in ‘anti-party activities’ ahead of the municipal polls said the committee of Congress’ Delhi unit. The four-member disciplinary committee comprised of former Delhi minister Narender Nath, former Mahila Congress chief Abha Chaudhary, and party leaders Mahmood Zia and Surender Kumar.

On Thursday, Singh took a jibe at Rahul Gandhi saying the decision “proved” his “mental bankruptcy” and added that she will take legal recourse against it. She also vowed not to quit the party.

“The Congress is not the Gandhi family’s property,” Singh said.

Earlier, Singh had accused Rahul Gandhi of being reluctant and not meeting his party workers. She also alleged him of not addressing the issues within the organization. Additionally, she also charged Maken of misbehavior. Singh has also complained about the women workers being neglected in the party during the time of ticket distribution for April 23 civic polls. She also added that the party workers’ grievances were not addressed.
